London Sporting Club Networking Lunch with Glenn Hoddle
Alexander Charles Associates CEO Kelvin Trott had great pleasure in attending the London Sporting Club’s latest networking lunch with some of our valued clients. The last networking lunch before Christmas featured football legend Glenn Hoddle and a cameo interview with round the world sailor Tracy Edwards.
Glenn Hoddle played as a midfielder for Tottenham Hotspur, Monaco, Chelsea and Swindon Town and at international level for England. He has been manager of Swindon Town, Chelsea, Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers. He also managed England with the pinnacle of his career there being reaching the second round of the 1998 FIFA World Cup (England lost to Argentina on penalties).
Speaking about his time as both a player and a manager, Glenn Hoddle drew on a wealth of experience and shared his insights on teamwork and leadership. He also shared his personal highlights from his stellar career. Finally, Glen Hoddle described how on his 61st birthday, he suffered a heart attack whilst at a TV studio. A quick-thinking colleague who was trained at using defibrillator, helped to keep him alive before the ambulance team took him for critical heart surgery. He then spoke about his recovery over several weeks in hospital and then recuperation at home. A fundraising collection was then made for the British Heart Foundation.
