Eddie Jones at the London Sporting Club: Team Work and Creating Success
Alexander Charles Associates Director Kelvin Trott had great pleasure in enjoying the recent networking lunch at the London Sporting Club and hearing from Rugby legend Eddie Jones.
Eddie Jones is an Australian rugby union coach and former player and has been the head coach of the England national team since 2015. During the lunch at Morton’s in Mayfair’s Berkeley Square, Jones regaled members at length with stories about his career which offered a fascinating insight into the game. Due to the forthcoming World Cup, the lunchtime talk was covered by Chatham House rules which we need to respect here. We wouldn’t want our opponents to learn our tactics ahead of the tournament, would we? The key question on everyone’s lips was: could England win the rugby world cup this year? His answer was an emphatic yes!
We can reveal that Jones spoke about the importance of youth and giving young players a chance to shine along with more experienced hands. This is also a good strategy for business, to ensure that teams stay fresh and sharp, with the benefit of experience passed on to more junior members. This helps to ensure longer-term success.
Also in attendance was the former world and European 400 metres relay champion Derek Redmond. He spoke about the huge highs and lows in his track and field career.
