Comeback of the year at the Sporting Club’s annual Sporting Awards

We took great pleasure in sponsoring the Comeback of The Year award at The Sporting Club’s annual Sporting Awards.

The Awards took place yesterday at the Royal Lancaster hotel. As ever, they featured a star-studded evening of the greatest sporting talent. ACA had the pleasure of hosting a large group of clients, plus Olympians Laura Kenny and Ed Clancy. This provided a fantastic networking opportunity in an exciting and congenial atmosphere. Everyone had the opportunity to meet and mingle with an array of sporting stars during the champagne reception. The 10 awards were presented during a sumptuous dinner with live music from the inimitable Boney M.

Comeback of the Year Award

ACA sponsored the award for Comeback of the Year which honoured Dame Laura Kenny. Dame Kenny is a British track and road cyclist. She specialises in track endurance events and scooped six medals across three Olympic games. Five of those medals are golds. In her acceptance speech, Dame Kenny spoke candidly about how the viewing public only ever see the successes: the gold medals. She shared how behind those achievements lay a path punctuated with great challenges. For her this recently included mental health difficulties, serious injuries resulting from a clash and caring for a new born child. Her heartfelt speech was met with huge applause reflecting just how much she deserves this award.

The Sporting Club’s Annual Sporting Awards were a wonderful celebration of the whole spectrum of sporting achievement. They encompass football, rugby, cricket, F1, golf, tennis, Olympic and Paralympic games and others. It was a unique experience to hear about the levels of human endeavour and indomitable spirit which lie behind our favourite sporting achievements.
